Italian Baroque Era Painter, 1582-1622 Italian painter. In the 17th century he was known throughout Italy and beyond as Caravaggio's closest follower and his works were highly prized and widely collected. More than simply aping Caravaggio's style, Manfredi reinterpreted his subjects and rendered new ones, drawing upon Caravaggio's naturalism and dramatic use of chiaroscuro. His paintings were often praised by his contemporaries as equal to Caravaggio's and he was subsequently emulated and imitated by other Roman Caravaggisti during the 1610s and 1620s. Thomas Ender
(3 November 1793 Vienna - 28 September 1875 Vienna) was an Austrian painter. He was twin brother of Johann Ender. He also studied at the Vienna Academy, becoming a noted landscape painter. He won the grand prize at the Vienna Academy in 1816. Going to Brazil in 1817, he brought back nearly a thousand drawings and water colors. He visited Italy, Palestine, Greece and Paris. In 1836, he became corrector and later professor at the Vienna Academy, filling that chair until 1849.

(February 17, 1837 ?C 1883) was a French painter of the Academic Classicism school. He was born in B??darieux, and initially studied at l'Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Toulouse before going to Paris. He studied under Leon Cogniet, Alexandre Cabanel and William-Adolphe Bouguereau. From the 1870s, his popularity grew quickly. In 1874 he was made Chevalier of the Legion of Honour. He created several works of lasting popularity, including Le Printemps, featuring two young lovers sitting upon a swing, and The Storm. Both these paintings are on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City;
